Our Mission

Our singular mission is to develop and promote offshore racing in the United States for one of the world's most exciting sailing vessels—the Mini offshore racing sailboat. The success of the Mini Class US ("MCUS") requires the successful achievement of two key objectives. Mini sailors must have a viable administrative organization to manage comprehensive on and off-the-water programs and Minis must be acquired by US sailors to sail in Mini ocean racing events. We're taking the important steps necessary to make both happen.

Our first goal is to make sailing fun and exciting for our class members. Mini boats and Mini racing offers sailors an opportunity to become immersed in the all facets of sailing. They can design, build, sail, navigate, repair and manage the racing campaigns of their own boats. To be a Mini sailor they must have or acquire all the skills and knowledge of a professional sailor. MCUS members are the future stars of offshore sailing because of their daring, their skills and their character.

MCUS is developing racing and educational programs so that American sailors can train and experience the exciting sport of offshore short-handed sailing at a reasonable cost. MCUS programs and events offer a starting point and proving ground for sailors who plan to compete in professional Open Class ocean racing. We believe the MCUS can produce sailors who will compete equally with the rest of the world's Mini sailors and make a lasting impact on the future of offshore racing in Minis.
